The fiscal sponsorship field is under rapidly escalating attacks from extreme rightwing media and the current federal administration. Recent posts by Capital Research Group and City Journal have engaged in outright doxxing of fiscal sponsors, foisting terrorism claims, among others. Active assaults on a number of fiscal sponsors continue, with the stakes ever higher.
Our current socio-political state of play is no longer grounded in rule of law, fact, or reason. It is a politics of pure power. This greatly limits the short- and long-term efficacy of legal tactics and “record setting”. Instead, it recommends organizing and real show of force from those of us holding the line on civil society. It is a time to show up with resource potency, not reasoned platitudes. To do this effectively, we will need to expand our coalition of the willing, including engaging our conservative colleagues on the center right who maintain a commitment to individual freedom and pluralism.
