Membership Update

Thank you for your interest in joining our community!

We are excited to share that we are actively transitioning to our new initiative, Fiscal Sponsorship Commons. Fiscal Sponsorship Commons is a collaborative initiative of Social Impact Commons and Schulman Consulting/Fiscal Sponsorship Hub.

Our goals in launching this initiative are to…

  • Bring the field together, create more solidarity and a bigger tent for sharing, learning, and leveraging out collective strength.

  • Create one membership for constituents to access the combined resources of both Impact Commons and Fiscal Sponsorship Hub, thereby, simplifying the process and reducing cost.

  • In April 2026, members will have access to all current resources of the Fiscal Sponsorship Hub and Social Impact Commons on one unified platform for the continued development of community resources.

Fiscal Sponsorship Commons welcomes…

  • Fiscal sponsors of all models, sizes, and life stages, from aspiring to established, including multi-entity sponsors wherein one of the entities is a (c)(3). In most instances, Projects interested in accessing the benefits of Membership should refer their Sponsor to us. If you’re unsure if your Sponsor is already a Member, check out our Member Directory. Occasionally, we will provide individual projects with contracted support outside of a membership relationship. For questions, email Tara Barrett-Olds.

Understanding Membership Types

Interest is growing in fiscal sponsorship as a nonprofit resource sharing platform for a more efficient, sustainable, equitable, and inclusive sector.

Fiscal Sponsorship Commons provides membership to an array of organizations, both nonprofit and for-profit, as well as individuals. Our Membership Types are broken down into the following categories: Commons Organizations, Ally Organizations, and Affiliate Members.

  • Commons Organizations represent our core membership constituency. Commons Member Organizations are comprised of fiscal sponsors, aspiring to established, and their fiscally sponsored projects.

  • Ally Organizations broaden the circle of the fiscal sponsorship community. Ally Member Organizations are funders and philanthropy-serving organizations that increasingly want to better understand the ins and outs of fiscal sponsorship and to engage with fiscal sponsors and their projects.

  • Affiliate Members are nonprofit organizations that are not fiscal sponsors (e.g., nonprofit associations, field-adjacent nonprofits), for-profit service providers, and individuals affiliated with nonprofit organizations.
