This year Social Impact Commons reaches its five-year milestone, which coincides with a moment of tremendous change and challenge for our field and the sector overall: deepening social and economic division, political and legal attacks, and despite these challenges, continued growth of charitable work and fiscal sponsorship in response.

Over the past year, we have analyzed our work so far, reflected on the tremendous input and knowledge we’ve gathered from the field, and surveyed the shifting and uncertain landscape ahead. The result is our first five-year strategic plan and a ten-year vision for the field. We see fiscal sponsorship not just continuing to assert its value to the sector, but becoming an even more significant foundation for civil society work moving forward. Yet, fiscal sponsorship has only begun the earnest work of field building in recent years. Much progress has been made, but much more is necessary if we are to support a rapidly growing ecosystem.
