The Philanthropic Perspective on Fiscal Sponsorship

Over the last decade, fiscal sponsorship has grown precipitously, and along with it, fiscally sponsored grantmaking. Some funders are reporting hundred fold increases in fiscally sponsored grants, while others are still wary of fiscal sponsorship or do not embrace it as a solution for the sector.

Much of this growth has come in response to the social, political, economic, and environmental crises of our time, where fiscal sponsorship is seen as a means to rapidly deploy funds, foster greater access and equity, and increase the efficiency of a fragmented sector.

Despite this growth, awareness and understanding of fiscal sponsorship varies greatly within the philanthropic community, which can lead to uncertainty and hesitation in investing in sponsors directly and their projects. Adding to this collision of opportunity and uncertainty is the current political climate, in which fiscal sponsors find themselves at the center of battles and debate.

Join us for a conversation about the philanthropic view of fiscal sponsorship at this critical and complex juncture.
